וְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּם מְאֹד לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם (דברים ד:ט"ו)
Protect well your souls/lives. (Deuteronomy 4:15)
We take several measures to protect our health and our planet.
- Outside our Haring St. entrance, we have an organic vegetable garden which we
germinate, plant, tend, harvest, and eat thereof.
- The food that we serve at the Shabbos afternoon groups is organic/vegan,
oftentimes including produce from our own vegetable garden. Leftovers from groups is served at Seuda Shilishit 25 minutes thereafter.
- Our social hall has a Royal Berkey filter. It is top-of-the-line unit which filters out
filters to filter out fluorine as well as many other contaminants. The water comes out healthier and tastier than tap water.
- We have solar panels on the Brown St. roof powering part of the Brown St.
building
- We have a vermicomposter allowing us to keep kitchen scraps out of the landfill
while nourishing our gardens’ plants and ourselves.
- We use reusable stainless steel utensils at many of events, keeping their disposable
counterparts out of landfills.
